It all starts with drawing a single line. Staring intently
at the otherwise blank page, use the mind’s eye to envision a larger shape into
which that line could belong. Drawing the next line in the shape, it will of course
come out imperfect, but the vision adjusts accordingly. Let the pen and mind enjoy
their dance a while, and something concrete forms. In the moment it’s just one
line after another, but when complete, somehow it bears a larger meaning that
always surprises with its significance. As with art, same with music: a
maddening yet pleasing flow between reality and imagination. There’s really no
trick to it, except to start with a single line and follow where it leads.
